Posted on 13 April 2016

Kilwaughter Lime welcomed over 30 CAFRE students to their site as part of Greenmount Colleges further education and development programme.

The group, currently studying a BTEC Extended Diploma in Agriculture learnt about the uses and advantages of agricultural lime.

The visit offered an insight into the importance of using lime to adjust the pH value of soil to improve fertility & optimise crop & grass performance. They were advised on the importance of soil testing to ascertain pH levels before lime application and the use of bedding lime to inhibit the pathogenic bacteria present in livestock cubicles.

The final year students were then given a tour of the Kilwaughter Lime site. Kilwaughter Lime were delighted to host the college and showcase their lime products including G-Lime, MasterCAL & CubiCAL. The day was a great success and CAFRE forsee the visit becoming an annual event.
