Kilwaughter Support Young Entrepreneurs

08 April 2014

Kilwaughter are always keen to play their part in nurturing the aspiring young business people of Larne. In April we were invited to take part in the ‘Dragons Den’ at St Macnissi’s Primary School, as a business mentor.  The mentor’s role is to support young people and offer encouragement in any number of issues from business planning through to business promotion.

The school holds a ‘Dragons Den’ each year where P7 pupils become budding entrepreneurs and get five minutes to pitch their business ideas to local business representatives.

Marketing & Product Development Manager Lisa Blair went along to the school to listen to the pitches from 6 competing teams, each made up of 6 pupils.

“The children present an interactive and engaging business presentation to 3 ‘Dragons’ in the ‘Den’ – quite a daunting experience for them! The extremely high standard to which these children deliver their pitches is truly inspiring.  Their enthusiasm and initiative shone through as they utilised latest technologies to make an advertisement for their product that included the composition of their own music. I was delighted to attend and offer guidance and support to pupils who clearly have a bright future".

Kilwaughter is committed to enhancing the educational experience of young people through initiatives such as 'Time to Read'.  We support exchange placements, work experience, facility tours and open days for local and foreign students.
